Monster Kid Memories

By Bob Burns and Tom Weaver
Foreword by Leonard Maltin
Introduction by Joe Dante

Monster Kid Memories tells how Bob Burns was part of science fiction history for more than 50 years. Befriending movie serial stars and stuntmen while still a child, Burns was on the set during the production of many classic chapter plays, and collected some of the now historic props (including -- the original suit used in Adventures of Captain Marvel!). Though that was a thrill, it all didn't really come together for Burns until he stepped onto the set of George Pal's classic Destination Moon (1950), where, standing on a lavish moonscape created by Chesley Bonestell, Bob fell in love with tomorrow.

Follow Bob Burns as he tells of his friendship with George Pal (Destination Moon, War of the Worlds, The Time Machine, 7 Faces of Dr. Lao), his days on the sets of the Republic serials, his days as a horror host on television's Shock Theater and, later, The Ghost Busters, his time on the sets of such films as The Time Machine (and its remake) and the story of his incredible collection of film memorabilia.

Read about Bob's friendship with Glenn Strange (last Frankenstein Monster of the Universal series of classic movies); his friendship with Bill Castle - King of the Horror Movie Gimmicks; his experiences with makeup man Jack Pierce; and the legendary, long-running series of elaborate Halloween shows he's staged in his own backyard with the help of Hollywood's top special effect men!
